How do I get started on Ing4music.com?

There is no shortage of places to start. It really depends on what you are looking for. If you are interested in searching for enjoying music or videos, you can either prowl the site for new discoveries or type the name of an artist, band, or song in the search box (located at the top of every page -- below the Ing4music.com logo and toolbar).

Do I have to become a member?

No membership required. At Ing4music.com we believe music is made to be enjoyed by people, so were not going to put any barriers between you and your favorite music.

Is there a fee to use the service?

No fee for entry. Again, we’re here to get music to the music loving public. Browsing and searching for information on Ing4music.com is totally free.

How do I find specific videos and artists?

At the top of every page is a search bar. Use it to type in what you want to search. Click "Search” and your search results will appear momentarily.

Someone on Ing4music is bugging/harrassing/threatening me - what can I do about it?

The best thing to do if and when you encounter such a situation is simply ignore them... 99.9% of the time they will soon leave you alone. Remember, you can always remove the person from your Friend List (they will then no longer be able to add Comments to your Profile page), delete any Comments they leave on your Profile page, and you can even delete any messages they send you via the Ing4music Mail system without opening them. By NOT responding to offending user (i.e., NOT giving them any attention, NOT letting them get a "rise" out of you), most people will simply go away. You may also view their profile and click "Block User", which will prevent them from contacting you. Annoying people get bored very fast when you don't allow them to annoy you. If someone threatens you, contact law enforcement immediately.

How do I block a user?

To block a user you will need to visit that user's profile click 'Block User' (found underneath 'Send Message'). Clicking 'Block User' will block that user.
Blocked users can still view your profile, but they cannot send you a message or communicate with you. There is no way to prevent someone from seeing your profile.

How do I set my profile to private?

The privacy option under 'Account Settings' - 'Privacy Settings'. Please note that this is a public website, and you should be careful about what information you put on the internet. Please check out our Safety Tips section for more information about safety on the internet!

I think someone compromised my account, I can't log in, and things look different!

First, try to retrieve the password for your account through the Password Retrieval Tool . Once you get your password, you can log into your account and change the password to your account. Make sure the password for your Ing4music.com account is never the same for your email account!
Next, make sure that someone didn't leave a comment on your page that could have altered the page. Please click here to read more about that situation.
If you can't log into your account at all, and you aren't receiving the password for your account, we will need a a salute from you so we can verify you are the owner of the profile. Make sure to not post your salute in a public place, and send the web address of your salute and your profile to Ing4music.com.

I'm a journalist and I want to talk to someone at Ing4music. Who can I contact?

Thank you for your Ing4music media inquiry. We want to do our best to meet any pressing deadlines you may have. Is Ing4music free?

Yes! Every feature and function you currently see on the site is FREE. Ing4music is supported solely by advertising. In the future, Ing4music may add paid Premium Services, but all the features and functions you have currently been enjoying on the Ing4music site will always remain FREE!

Someone is using my email address without my permission - what can I do?

Please go to Retrieve Password to have the password of the account sent to you. You can then go to 'Account Settings' and click on 'Cancel Account' to remove the account using your email address. If you sign up with your email address, then no one else will be able to use it!

Someone is pretending to be me - what do I do?

In order to verify your identity, please send us a "salute". This means we will need an image of yourself holding a handwritten sign with the word "Ing4music.com" and your Friend ID (your Friend ID number appears immediately after "friendID=" in the web address/URL when viewing your profile). We can then remove the profile that uses your identity without your permission. Please be sure to include the web address/URL to the profile in question when you send your salute. If you do not have a profile on Ing4music please write in the email address that you are emailing us from instead of your Friend ID. If the profile is an extremely obvious attempt to be cruel/false, you may not need to send a salute. Sending a salute will definately help expediate things, though! Where do I report underage users?

Users must be at least 14 to join. According to the TOS, if a user is under 18 and misrepresenting their age, the account may be deleted. If you have sighted a user under 14 years of age on Ing4music.com, please contact us with the URL or friend ID number and we will remove it. If you are trying to remove your own child's account, please work with your child to remove the account. Once you are logged into Ing4music.com, click on 'Account Settings' and then click on 'Cancel Account'. An email will be sent to the email address (the same one used as the login name) to verify Account Deletion. If you do not receive the confirmation email, please remove all content from your child's profile, and enter in the text 'Remove Profile' in the 'About Me'. This lets us know that you have taken control of your child's account. Please alert us with the URL to the profile in question, and we can remove the profile for you.

How do I remove my child's profile from Ing4music.com?

Please work with your child to remove the account. Once you are logged into Ing4music.com, click on 'Account Settings' and then click on 'Cancel Account'. An email will be sent to the email address (the same one used as the login name) to verify Account Deletion. If you do not receive the confirmation email, please remove all content from your child's profile, and enter in the text 'Remove Profile' in the 'About Me'. This lets us know that you have taken control of your child's account. Please alert us with the URL to the profile in question, and we can remove the profile for you. How do I block a user?

To block a user you will need to visit that user's profile click 'Block User' (found underneath 'Send Message'). Clicking 'Block User' will block that user. Where do I report spammers?

Please contact us with the URL to the profile of a spammer, and details of how you were spammed. Also make sure to report the spam message in your Ing4music.com inbox by clicking on ‘Flag Spam/Abuse’. Please contact us here.

What do I do about the weird spam bulletins being posted through my account?

Please change the password on your account. Phishing is when you think you are on one website, but were really redirected to a third party website that has the intention of stealing your login information. Whenever it looks like you were logged out of Ing4music.com, please check the web address bar to make sure you are still on Ing4music.com before entering your login information. If you are ever unsure, just type back in 'www.Ing4music.com' before entering in your login information. If you think you were a victim of phishing, change your password. Make sure to not have the same password for your Ing4music account as you do for your email address!

Where do I report Inappropriate Content?

If there is something on the profile itself that is inappropriate, look at the bottom of the profile and click on the link 'Report Inappropriate Content'. If the content is an image uploaded to the user's image gallery, click on the 'Report this Image' link that is under the image. Thanks for helping keep Ing4music a fun place to be! How do I report a copyright violation?

If you believe that your copyright-protected work has been copied and posted on Ing4music.com in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please provide our Copyright Agent with the following information: (i) an electronic or physical signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright interest; (ii) a description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed; (iii) a description of where the material that you claim is infringing is located on the Website; (iv) your address, telephone number, and email address; (v) a written statement by you that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; (vi) a statement by you that the above information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf. What to do about Classified scams?

While the majority of Ing4music users do not commit fraud or scams, there are a few who will attempt to take advantage of you. Beware of Overpayment Fraud or "Nigerian" Scammers! Individuals will try to offer you a check for more than the amount of the item, requesting that you wire them back the difference. The check is fraudulent, and you will be left owing the bank the money instead, and will have lost your real money to the scammer! Here are a few ways to identify potential scams: • Overseas or out-of-town buyer • Offer involves a cashier's check, money order, or wire transfer • Offer involves an escrow service (BidPay, Squaretrade, etc.) • Offer involves buyer's own personal shipping service or personal FedEx account How to protect yourself: • Deal with local buyers only. • Never accept a check for more than the purchase price. • Never agree to refund overpayment via wire transfer or any other means • Never give out personal information such as Social Security or checking account numbers Please report scammers to Ing4music.com so we can remove their accounts and prosecute any violations.

How do I set my profile to private?

How do I advertise on Ing4music.com?

How do I change my email address?

Your e-mail address is found under "Account Settings." Start by clicking on "Home" in the top navigation menu from any Ing4music web page. Once on your personal home page, click on "Account Settings," appearing in the upper left portion of the page, next to your picture. You will be taken to your "Account Settings" page. Once there, type in the new email address you want to use and click on "Change". You will receive an email to your old address asking you to confirm the email change. Follow the link in the email and confirm the code and your email will be changed. If you do not have access to your old email account, please send us an email with the old email address, the password for the account and the email address you want to change it to.

How do I change my password?

Your password is found under "Account Settings." Start by clicking on "Home" in the top navigation menu from any Ing4music web page. Once on your personal home page, click on "Account Settings," appearing in the upper left portion of the page, next to your picture. You will be taken to your "Account Settings" page. Click on “Change Password”. Enter your old password, your new password, confirm your new password and click “Change”. You can now log in using your new password.

How do I report a fake Ing4music login page?

Please contact Ing4music.com through this form to report a fake Ing4music login page. Please ensure to include the web address the site in question. We can then work in getting the site removed. If you entered in your login information on the fake site, please change your password and/or email address.

How do I report an error?

Please check the Updates Page to ensure that the error you experienced is not already a known issue. If you do not see it listed, please contact us with a description of the error you received and what you were doing in when you received the error.

Why is my Profile page suddenly messed up? It has music, sound or strange graphics on it?

Your Profile page may suddenly change and/or appear messed up for 1 or 2 reasons. Either you added some HTML code to your Profile page improperly (i.e., forgot to close a tag, etc.), or someone else added an HTML Comment on your page. While only you have secure access to edit your own Profile page, others can place HTML code when leaving you a Comment on your Profile page. If you feel you have caused the problem yourself through improperly implementing HTML code on your Profile page, simply troubleshoot your HTML code to determine where the error is, and fix it. You may need to use “Safe Mode”. In the worst-case scenario, you may need to remove all your HTML coding (DO NOT delete your Profile), and start your HTML coding again from scratch. If the problem lies in a Comment that someone else left on your page, you can attempt to identify which Comment contains the HTML code, and delete it from the list of Comments on your Profile page. Though there is not always an easy way of identifying which Comment contains the embedded HTML code, you can often narrow it down by observing when the problem first occurred... i.e., if everything was fine until Comment "X" was added, then try deleting Comment "X" and see if the problem is solved. We strongly encourage you to attempt to resolve these issues yourself using the above solutions.

I can't create an account.

Please send us an email describing how far into the account creation process you were able to complete as well as the error you received.

I forgot my password.

Retrieve your password by clicking here and following the instructions. You will need to enter the email address that we have on file for your account. We'll then email your password to that address.

I can't log in to my account.

Please verify that you are logging in with the correct password and username. We also recommend clearing your browser's cookies and temporary internet files and then try logging in again. Note: Mac users should use Safari or Firefox for the best browsing results. If you have already tried the methods above, check to make sure your profile still exists by finding your profile on the site. Also, look for comments you posted on your friends' profiles. If you cannot find your profile, it may have been deleted. Ing4music may delete profiles if they violate the site's Terms and conditions. You cannot retrieve a deleted account. How do I change my personal information?

You may change your name, age, and/or add to the information on your Profile through "Edit Profile." Start by clicking on "Home" in the top navigation menu from any Ing4music web page. Once on your personal home page, click on "Edit Profile," appearing in the upper left portion of the page, next to your picture. You will be taken to your "Edit Profile" page where you may edit or add information from the following categories: name, age, city, state, zip, ethnicity, body type, reason you're on Ing4music, who you are looking for, your headline, about you, interests, background, lifestyle, schools you've attended and companies you have worked for.

How do I delete my account?

If you wish to permanently terminate your Ing4music account, start by clicking "Home" in the top navigation menu from any Ing4music web page. From your personal home page, click the "Account Settings" next to your default picture. From your "Change Account Settings" page, click the "Cancel Account" link, found just above the "My Account Settings". On the "Cancel My Account" page, click the "Cancel My Account" button. Check the email account that you used to create your account. Follow the instructions in that email to delete your account. Keep in mind, cancelling your Ing4music account will PERMANENTLY REMOVE all of your profile information from Ing4music, including your photographs, comments, blogs, and your personal network of friends. This information cannot be restored. You may re-register with your current email address after canceling, but you will need to rebuild your personal network from scratch.

How do I add a song from a Ing4music artist to my profile? How do I remove it?

Adding a song is easy. Visit Ing4music Music (http://music.Ing4music.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=music) and find a song you want to add. If the artist has given permission to share the music, you'll see an "Add" link next to the song. Click "Add" and the song will play on your profile! Only one song can be added to your profile at one time. If you want to change songs, simply find another song and click "Add." To remove the song, go to Home >> Edit Profile >> Profile Songs and click "Delete."
